O Come, O come, Emmanuel!
Tis the season to have a Holly Jolly, Christmas! With the ones you love, family and friends, with special food, Christmas trees and lights, Caroling and of course, the reason for the season, the little babe wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a Creche!
I can smell Frankincense with its holy heavenly scent as I think of the babe in the cold barn with the Star brightly shining!
"Francis called it a "creche," the French word for cradle. Francis created the first creche using real ppl, a real manger, a real ox and ass, and real shepherds.
The Incarnation - Christmas - was a key component in the spirituality of Francis. He wanted to celebrate the Incarnation in a special way. He wanted to do something that would help ppl remember the Christ Child and how He was born in Bethlehem.
Francis wanted ppl to see and experience how He lay in a manger with an ox and an ass standing by - how He lay upon the hay where He had been placed.
It was Christmas Eve in the year 1223. At the appointed time, Franciscan Brothers came to the new Bethlehem. Men, women, and children from the area also came to celebrate. The torches they carried lit up the night as they approached the creche. Once again shepherds were walking in the night to come and adore Him. All were filled with joy over the mystery of the Incarnation. And a great tradition began.
As you look upon your Nativity set, may you remember and celebrate again God's Love for His creation. To show His abundant love mercy and forgiveness. He became a person like us. This is what the creche symbolizes."
From The Life of St. Francis by Thomas of Celano
Let us also remember that we anticipate that great and fearful day when, O come, O come Emmanuel will appear in Glory! When Hark the Herald Angles blow their Trumpets from on high, signing in exaltation ushering in the Great Jubilee, the Victorious return of the Messiah! Where there will be no more thirst, no more hunger, no more nakedness, no more homelessness, no more loneliness, no more want for basic needs, no rust, no dust, no grime or slime, and every tear will be wiped away! O come, O come, Divine Messiah, our true desire and deliver us from every foe!
This is a wonderful time to diffuse Christmas Spirit! This lovely blend has the sweet spicy smell of Christmas, with a hint of spruce!
Best regards for a Glorious, Joyful, Christmas and a Blessed and Prosperous 2018!
Love, Loretta May
